Summertime Daze

Summertime Daze

Summertime. Summertime, it’s summertime.

NO 5am alarm to ruin my sleep.

No, now my deepest and sweetest fantasy

About the cutest and sweetest girl can be complete.

Girl, in your hands you hold my heart like the fate of the world

Depends on the result of the war

That’s determined by them ‘crats and republicans

Who see us as dummies and treat us as manikins.

I’m just fishing for someone to be with at breakfast, lunch and dinnertime

Like a pelican in the summertime.

Ya, im just fishing for a catch, just wondering why it couldn’t be easier like a fish waiting flopping on the deck.

Girl, you’re my queen and im the king in the deck.

Girl, when we’re in the same room my stomach spins

Like the fan hanging above on the ceiling in the room.

I tell you I love you but then you remind me because of my busy schedule,

I don’t have room for you.

So here I am kneeling before you,

Reaching in my right pocket while looking deep into your eye sockets for a ring

I purchased in spring to ensure our relationship is a lifelong thing.

And that’s the thing.

I think I’m making a promise I can’t keep.

Your everlasting car touches my soul

And your model coke bottle curves tickle my nerves.

Your hair flowing in the wind blows me away.

Girl, you are a ten.

Your Hollywood smile mixes my insides

Like stuffing at thanksgiving time.

Your love is so stuffing so I have to thank you for

Giving me the gift of love that just doesn’t stop giving.

It’s so fulfilling and desirable,

It’s so enticing but yet so undeniable

That you got me wide open

Like the un-guarded wide receiver left wide open

In the end zone, and in the end I just want you to know,

I’ll give up my nights and days so we can grow,

So you can be mine in the summertime

Like mosquitos looking to dine on

Bodies left unsprayed.

Dang, girl, if you’ve ever seen sprung, you can say I’ve sprang.

This feeling can’t be tamed

And still I sit here questioning the promises I’ve made.

Can I be faithful or were we not made for our lust to be tamed?

I don’t know if this is a promise I can keep.

But your suck-able toes and kissable feet,

You impeccable swag and seductive speech, the happiness you bring to me…

It’s something I know I want to keep.

Girl, you know you bad when the ugliest thing about you are your knees.

Is it wrong of me to be a slave of vanity

Without wanting to pay the fee of your body at the cost of my loyalty?

It’s not that I can’t be, it’s just that I don’t know if I’m ready for forever and eternity.

I’m sure there’s plenty of other people who feel me.

It’s my deepest and sweetest best kept secret that your sweetness has spoiled me.

Girl, your summertime fine. Summertime, summertime, it’s summertime,

So fortunately all the answers don’t have to be found at this time.

So whether I’ve made a promise I can keep,

Or if lust has me lying through my teeth,

Will only be determined in my next dream when I fall asleep,

So will someone turn off the lights please?

This was my very first spoken word piece. I was inspired to write it after I attended my very first Poetry Club meeting at my High School. I had never heard of Spoken Word before then. Now, I fricken love Spoken Word. Video coming soon...
