The Sun and Moon
If you're the sun, then I'm the moon
Because when you rise, I fall.
It seems like everyone has overlooked the moon,
The sun is blinding, pulling everything into its orbit, including the cold moon.
I'm forever stuck being your shadow, a mere shell of your ever-growing potential.
It seems like when someone talks about me, your name is always pasted before it.
Everything I attempt is a repetition of ctrl+c, ctrl+v,
The sun was older than the moon, having already achieved everything before it could even try.
No matter what I do, no matter how hard I run after your, you're unreachable, hundreds and thousands of miles from my reach, planets, maybe even galaxies away.
Maybe if I had been born first, maybe if I tried a little harder, maybe if I had been better.
But,
If you're the sun, then I'm the moon
Because without you, no one could ever see my illuminating glow.
We were both destined to conquer at different times- I just couldn't see it till it was my turn.
Though you and I were polar opposites, we were a team.
You're the piano to my violin, the harmony to my melody, the logic to my madness- my other half
My brother,
Thank you for making me realize my potential.
My fall doesn't make you rise. We expand each other's horizons, learning more and more about this crazy world together.
You are the day to my night, the stars to my stripes, and-
If you're the sun, then I'm the moon
Because without you, my universe would spin out of orbit.
