The Sun Queen's Warning (The Unwritten Rules)

To my dear sweet child of widely ranged skin tones and deeply rooted traditions,

Your mother wants you to know that you have potential
Heed my warnings, for what I have to say is quite essential

Despite what they say, your life is as precious as your counterparts
Tuck your self worth and love deeply into your Heart

Hatred and rage are installed into trained minds
Snakes representing oppression will mercilessly constrict your kind,

And devour your existence as a human being
they may never understand your purpose and meaning

Your toned flesh makes you stand out as their target
But Don’t ever let them see you sweat

You will have to work harder
In order to beat this unjust race, run farther

You may want to give up, trust me, I know it’s tough,
But just reaching the finish line is not good enough

While they chase after you, you chase after success
There’s no time to sit down and rest

Now walk with your head up high and confident stride,
Wear your royal robe of Black Pride!
