Sun Rays and Happy Days
Everyday, as the sun ascends across the crystal, blue sky
And sends a glimmering ray into my eye, I wake up and smile.
Wanna know why?
Because I can
Because mama has breakfast sizzlin' in the pan and I can't wait to get a fork in my hand so I can eat all the hash browns, sausages, pancakes, and eggs that my stomach demands
I smile because I like the way it shines back at me in the mirror
And I love myself and that is the best love ever
Now, I don't have everything
I don't have the cars, the clothes, the diamond rings
I'm not rich by any sense of the word and there is no need for me to pretend
Life has given me a lot of lemons
Ugly, sour, rotten lemons
But instead of going running and trying to find a big, sweet, juicy strawberry or something like that
I take my lemons, and I make the best lemonade you've ever had
All times are good times, even the bad ones
Because unless you've gone through some thunderstorms, you can't appreciate your suns
You lose and you earn
You pray and you learn
You get hurt and recover
And even when there's so much hate inside you, you're still a lover
So love everyone and everything you have
Appreciate the little things and every chance you get, you should laugh
And remember that you're not missing anything you don't need
So when the sun leaves whispers across the starry night sky, and I lay in my bed and close my eyes, I still smile
Wanna know why?
Because I can
Because I know God is watching over me and he's holding my hand
And with his grace, I'll wake up in the morning and smile again
