Sunday Mourning

Goodnight, badmorning
A vow now broken
They kissed before bed
But from his lips
Nothing else was ever said
For he passed away with her on his side
And she promised to the bed
That she never once again shall lie
Szymborska's words
     "Mr. Day's Widow, Mrs. Night"
