Sunflower
Sunflower
He danced around a wishing well,
He tipped his silk hat, and buckled his knees
The trees swayed in the breeze.
The sun was shining in the sky
His heart felt light, soaring high
As he picked from a sunflower garden nearby
He went down on one knee,
Praying that he would soon be with thee.
He adjusted his frock coat,
In the nearby horizon he spotted a boat
He dabbed his forehead with a handkerchief
He checked his watch:
It was half past six.
A whirlwind of love surrounded him,
The sun in the sky began to dim
He felt full in the presence of love
His hands shaking in his pearly white gloves.
He sang a jolly tune
As he waited for June
Exhaust from the boat filled with fumes
He puckered his lips as it docked
And looked towards her direction in shock.
Out came June with her shiny brown hair,
Her skin porcelain, and fair
Her yellow dress flowed in the air.
He walked away in disbelief,
For he was not the prince for thee
And dropped the sunflowers in the sea.
