sunflowers
I AM A SUNFLOWER SURROUNDED BY ROSES
I SEE THE ROSES BEING ADMIRED FOR THEIR BEAUTY
CONSTANTLY PICKED FOR THEIR BEAUTY
A VIBRANT RED, WHICH I WILL NEVER BE
I SOMETIMES FORGET THAT EVEN ROSES HAVE THORNS
I SOMETIMES FORGET THAT I STILL GROW TALL AND BEES STILL DANCE AROUND ME
I SOMETIMES FORGET THAT ALTHOUGH YOU ARE VIBRANT AND RED
I AM A DEEP YELLOW, POWERFUL AND ABLAZE
I SOMETIMES FORGET THAT I AM DIFFERENT THAN YOU
BUT NOT LESS
I WILL NEVER BE RED BUT YOU WILL NEVER BE YELLOW EITHER
I NEED TO KNOW THAT
TO UNDERSTAND THAT
TO BE OKAY WITH THAT.
