The Sunflower's Eyes

Always surrounded but feeling lonely, empty, There is darkness, cold darkness covering me. The screaming rain falls and I am standing tall, all alone, There is darkness, cold darkness covering me. I am blind with the soil of privilege, blind with my own pain, There is darkness, cold darkness haunting me. But then the sun shines through the rain and embraces my soft petals, opening my eyes I see music, sweet music all around me. The rain no longer screams, my pain no longer lingers, listen to the voice of angels above I hear music, sweet music all around me. Hundreds beside me are blind with their pain I see darkness, cold darkness covering them. Daily, I strive to touch the few rays of light from the heavens above I feel music, see music, and hear the music all around me. No longer blind with my own selfish pain, my petals uncurl to reveal the eyes to see the world. Through the solitary hell of darkness, there is light and music all around me.
