Sunny Weekends

Weekends were always my favorite

Getting to “work” on my grandfather's old fashion catalac

Sitting in the big dirty tire

The tar rubbing off on my little hands

While he did all the work

The light burning on the bottoms of my legs

Sun blazing down on my forehead

It was the best time of my life smelling the fresh air

And his car always had the smell of stale coins

I miss the good times working on the car,

But now

I realize

that I waited too long and don't have the chance to learn

Because cancer ripped the greatest person away from me
