Sunrise

Everyday is a sunrise,

A second chance,

To forgive but not forget,

To lend another heart a hand,

To see something so beautiful it hurts,

To not feel dead inside.

Too many,

it seems,

waste this precious gift,

As if they were perfect,

and not in need of something beyond our mortal existence,

As if they did not need salvation,

But who among us is perfect,

We would all like to be able to stand up and proclaim,

“I am free from shame!”,

As if it were that easy.

Accept this sunrise so freely offered to you,

Accept salvation,

Refuse to relive the mistakes of the past day,

I can change,

You can change,

This dreadful world can change,

But only if we open up our blinds to the infinite beauty that is a new sunrise,

Open up your heart and soak up the golden hues of your second chance,

Your new day,

Before you see your last.
