Sunrise to Sunset

Sunrise to Sunset My high school Journey I anticipate the moment I rise Not knowing what to do, even to me it’s a surprise Shy, vulnerable and small I wait Hoping to just come up right and straight The morning horizon comes all in a blink From deep purple to reds on to soft pinks Without a doubt, I feel so scared Pressured to get things right and be prepared To learn of what’s to come and how it all works So I can path my way and move away from the jerks As I shake it off and begin to rise I take lots of notes and memorize For now I am here and know what to do I need to make my mark and show it to you Sunrise comes as I rise without aids I’ve gained power to shake off the shades Earning my chance, I can walk alone To begin to evolve and be on my own So that I can know more about me And know what I truly want to be The moment has come and you see me now Confident, bright, and magnificent, you would feel so proud I shine my light, so others can see I am different and new, look at me Noon expands over all, gleaming with delight And I too shine my own power of gold light I’ve overcome my challenges and learned a lot To be able to show the world what I have brought Although, it’s been the toughest of the four I can say, “I can do anything, bring on some more!” Though, sadly the time has come for it all to end, I take my sad stroll to the bend For I continue my journey in a new place And leave my mark for others to trace Sunset appears to conclude the day Bringing down curtains of red orange array I gather myself and what I know For a college future awaits me and I have to go Yet, I will never forget this part of my life As I will be able to take on the world’s strife Absorbing the last gleams of the day I recall the moments of my short stay Leaving astonishing appearances for all to remember And striving to being an alumni member I once again anticipate the moment I rise For this time, it’s time to bid my goodbyes Confident, invincible, and tall I wait Expecting the next moment I can ornate My high school journey Sunrise to Sunset
