Sunshine

Oh, you were a ray of sun,

Bright and burning and beautiful

Racing from one adventure to the next.

Was I an adventure?

Your first girlfriend, but not your first kiss

It was a relationship of passion and

Honestly? Not much else.

You were nearly childlike

in your affections and actions

Throwing tantrums when I couldn't see you

Burning me with your anger and frustrations

You seemed to forget that our relationship was dangerous.

A thrill, yes, but dangerous.

I left for our safety.

You raged and you burned and you cried.

Darling, I cared for you,

Despite was you now seem to think.

I fell for your sweet, naive nature

The sunshine burning through you,

but that's also why I left.
