sunshine eyes

streets down in Lower Haight hold a different meaning now

our laughter becomes colloquial, like wind rustling through the trees

a dulcet sound that has become my new favorite song.

each block we pass poses a new question,

a new frame of light

until your eyes aren’t just green anymore—

they dance among hues of golden honey, entwined in waltz.

I never liked San Francisco—so cold, so unfriendly. yet

the clouds have cleared up today

it seems the city has opened up its skies just for you.

there is sunshine in your eyes, and I think

green is no longer my favorite color.

for now, I fall for shades of warm yellow
