Sunshine On My Shoulder

With each years' dawn I'm leaning toward a shoulder's setting sun For each new breath of life, we must embrace the lies we've sung Estranged i've become to roots who loved and lost me in a single breath Distant smiles in shy reunion when once again charged by a clockwork song of death I love you, and must forgive the past As life is dragging on so fast What once was called an hour glass Is now a half moment's glass, a single grain Im with you, of you, and in an unnamed debt I stand alone hopeful, colored not by regret With a grain of sand's downward cast tink, I will remain In love with life and with mercy, no longer bleeding for your name. Sunshine on my shoulder Here you are now But tell me, where were you back then? Your sunshine feels cold And I'll never know how All your life you had chose to pretend So comes the end Sunshine on my shoulder I'm feeling much older I smoke like I breathe And I'm tired For this sun has run me over Left me unwilling to be sober And I know my body, too, will soon retire So comes the end Just behind it, the start Will i ever tell you all the ways You broke my adolescent heart? So comes the end So comes the destiny you've paved I pray that somehow I'll move on Forget the love you never gave.
