Superheroes

Superheroes,

that's what you think your parents are

cape flowing in the wind, endless power, taking on evil and saving your broken heart.

This image makes a home in your brain for awhile, but at some point it burns.

You see the woman , you once thought was a superhero,

with tears streaming down her face.

Now she's a victim.

You see the man, you once saw as a superhero,

with hands balled into fists.

Now he's the villian.
