Superman Inside

When you're little your dad is spost to be your hero.
In the childish mind they are everything you need them to be.
A fighter against the monsters that are under the bed,
Which are really just demons in our head.
Someone who tells the truth,
And makes life as easy as jumping through a hoop.
Over time that hero becomes a lie.
For me it was at age nine.
For covering his white lies, he tend to give a  big prize.
Like when I caught the ciggeretts he said he quit for months under the bath tub,
He bribed me with Disney for that one.
Then, told me his job was fine.
I spy another lie.
Now I'm sixteen, with quite an intelligent mind,
While he still acts like a child.
I'm inspired to leave the Neverland where he plans to survive.
I pray someday he will see he isn't fine and needs to try to be the Superman that is hidden somewhere inside.
