Supporting Teammates Slam

It's the Elite Eight and everything is on the line, Playing Duke again for the 2nd time, The season, it means the world to me, My coach and teammates, we can all see, The trophy, the spotlight, the fame, I go up to block a shot when I feel a pain, My leg is broken, And so is my heart, Working so hard from the start, My team surrounds, Because we are bound, Like a family, Me and my team, All I can tell them is to "Win the game" The whole place in a scare... I love my teammates, Pray for Ware

This poem was inspired by the event that took place on March 31st, 2013. When Louisville played Duke in the Elite Eight, a kid by the name of Kevin Ware, suffered a severe broken leg injury. His bone was sticking out of his leg, and the whole stadium was in shock, especially his teammates. His teammates got together around him, held his hand, and promised him a victory after he told them to not worry about him but to win the game. His teammates showed that they were more than just people on the same team, they were a family. They were a family who cared so deeply for one another. #PrayforWare
