Surfaces

Just a hope.

A dream of what could be.

Who are we?

Souls unstretched.

Unanswered lives.

A single choice,

Leaves in the rain shivering.

A hope that allowed

My blind eyes to see.

But I should have known.

What you truly want.

Is always an arms length away.

Closed eyes open to darkness.

Tea poured beside the cup

What I thought I knew.

Was barely a shimmer of the surface.
