surprise

looking around at all these people

i didn’t know two years prior who

have become family who have become

enemies who have tested and inspired

and loved and hated and everything

in between. let me lead

them even though i do not consider

myself a leader i always end up here

so here i am.

again.

standing in front of this chapter with

a smile on my face even though im

sure many of them would love to slam

my face with this gavel as i try to get

their attention that i think i deserve

but some of them

think differently.

growing up i never realized how different

i was how im the one to always speak

and stand up.

even when it’s hard.

i used to think that everyone

thought like me.

acted like me.

loved like me.

understood like me.

boy was i in for a surprise.
