Surprise Surprise
What were are and what we will be;
Is pre decided for us already;
Its a fake reality, the world we live in today;
There are ups and downs and in actuality;
We know, we can’t really get everything we want;
And for some, it is harder than others;
For the color of our skin may not be as fair as our brothers and sisters;
In other words, we may not look like others in our society today;
People take one look at me and already;
They determine my personality;
Race, gender, my past;
Yet no one really understands;
What’s actually hiding under our masks;
The anger that we as human beings muster;
The ringing in our brains go louder;
Just as we see the harm we do to one another;
Unable to control the words we say;
There are many mistakes made;
That we simply cannot erase;
For there is global warming;
And all sorts of pollutions;
Air, plastic, light and Noise;
But really, we are not here to talk about the environment;
But our unjust society;
The way those presumptuous people feel about my kind;
And many others that I see;
Lurking on the streets day and night;
Present to see that they are not being treated right;
Simply just because they may not appear to be white;
And that is my point exactly;
Though not all people are racist entirely;
But it is quite common in our world today;
To see that people are harming others horrifyingly;
Since their appearance varies;
From your very own;
And that is important to understand;
Since this is the land for all;
Or so it is portrayed, yet it leaves me appalled;
To see that some of us are still not welcome;
I mean, even after all this time;
Immigrants and natives working side by side;
Since 20 thousand years ago when immigrants first arrived;
We are still not being treated right;
Surprise surprise;
