Surreal Venture
You sink beneath the scratched surface of my skin,
invading the synapses between my nerves, like a chemical sin.
I try to tame the impulses, product of your influence,
but they're overwhelming, and rob me of my balance.
Still, I feel myself developing desire for the chaos you strike in me,
and I can only imagine that I have lost my sanity.
The way you creep over me is like a dense fog –blinding.
I cannot see where this path leads me, but I give to your guiding.
My feet tread on unfamiliar turf, led here by you,
and I’ve no way to slow the pace, but I’ve nothing to lose.
The fog lifts with impeccable timing, as if dutifully minding your will.
You turn to me, and despite fire in your eyes, your frame remains comfortably still.
A kiss, you grant to my frozen lips, and the warmth of you encircles me,
and brings me to life, like a long awaited rain sets unfed foliage free.
The land around us grows beautiful with reality defying speed,
and this is when I realize I’ve fallen for the theatrics of another dream.
