Surrender
We strive to just be, always trying to deceive
Hoping that maybe, just maybe, we can find a minute of peace
But now our hands are tainted red with all the lies that we bled
We've somehow gotten tangled in our own destructive web
The truth has become obscure and like a ray of light, it bends
Without a second thought
Throw our caution to the wind
In a moment of clarity you’ll see that you can’t tell a truth from a lie
Nor the ground from the sky
Looking in the mirror, asking
How does it feel to live a pseudo life?
Is it everything you thought it would be?
Was it worth sacrificing everything that made you unique?
Just another face in the crowd
Nothing about you ever stands out
You’ve transformed yourself to look like everyone else
It's a struggle finding your way back
You dug a hole so deep every direction you turn is pitch black
Every bridge you crossed was burned
Every friendship you had was scorched
And your beloved reputation was torched
I remember how you used to be, with that heart of gold
A soul that shined like a guide through the sinister night
But now I look at you and all I see is desperation for a life you remember
But the ill-fated truth is you can’t save the life you willingly surrendered.
