Survivalist

admire me

admire my heart

admire my brain

admire anything but my body

I am more than a number on a scale

a scale of anorexic to obese

a scale that plagues our society

a scale that makes young girls give up dinner

a dinner another young child would kill for

survival of the fittest

that is an honest truth

only the fit do survive

well survive happily that is

and to survive without happiness

does not sound like survival at all

so truth is who is surviving

no one that isn’t in the societal definition of pretty

that’s me

I am not surviving

I am living

living for myself

living for the smiles

living for the laughs

admire me for living

for its the only admiration I can accept
