Survivor
I am Ally,
I've experienced everything,
Been in an ambulance, helicopter and hospital,
Poked and poked again and wasn't even there for a while.
Life goes by even when you aren't there,
Friends, family came to visit but no response,
Songs sang to me but no movement,
Prayers heard but no sign.
One day I woke up but wasn't the same,
Can't remember all of August and then some,
Lost so much time in the hospital being sick,
No diagnosis for days but somehow we have hope,
Then a plan was made for recovery,
Got to go home but wasn't happy as I usually was.
It's hard to smile now but somehow I do,
The pain is within but I don't show it,
My body is weak but I am strong,
People have faith but I don't.
Not a day goes by that I don't think of what I missed,
Family supports me every day,
I am here and that's what counts.
