Suspicion

As I was heading towards my goal,

As all things were set to roll,

Was taken upon me the greatest toll,

Was made in my heart an eternal hole.

As I tried to stagger on and overlook,

There was no song playing, there was no book,

And within my mind my memories shook,

Insecurity hanging from every single hook.

Making it impossible for me to go on,

My leads were already long since gone,

And on my head was a weight of a ton,

And I wondered what else remained, my son.

No one stood beside me at this time,

No one whitewashed my memory with lime,

And after losing to myself in the court of mine,

I was dying under the burden of my own crime.
