Svalbard Seed Vault

I am a seed yet to sprout

I have a future without a doubt

Will I live inside a garden?

Will my outer shell cease to harden?

Oh I know the day is coming now.

The weeks have passed yet I remain

Encased, enclosed, all the same.

Any day now I could be a tree

Any day now the world will gawk at me

I know the day is coming soon.

Still I am here, undisturbed.

Does no one want me? Am I heard?

It’s cold and bleak and I am scared

Will I ever know how my roots will fare?

I hope the day is coming soon.

The light is bright and my branches stretch

Towards the heavens I aim to fetch!

Or so I wish, I still remain

A seed un-sprout, imprisoned, in pain.

I know the day is never coming now.
