swallow your pride

swallow your pride you are no better

Swallow your pride darling you are no better

I am no better than the oppressor.

the oppressor? Yes the white man.

the white man who only saw my hips and thighs.

not fit enough to make me his wife.

The oppressor who made you so insecure

you question your appearance.

is it my melanin that makes me different?

or is it the mole above my lip?

Is it the way that I am shaped?

Hideous is how I felt because all he did was take.
