Swan Song

It's going to be glorious! The ending to this book. Years and years in making The effort that it took. Some might say it's much too short, But brevity is wit. Who'd want to read a Tolstoy? Look what Crane has writ! I'd much prefer a play That doesn't drag the end. Better to have a good thing short Than its quality descend. Best to write an ending That makes the people move. Better short than twice as long With half as much to prove. You'll read my book, now, won't you? The work has been lifelong, I think you'll like it, I suppose, My work, my words, my last swan song.
