Sweet 16

Best years to come they say
Womenhood at last
Dreading days for this special year
I take them all back

Counting back steps
Memories overwhelm my fickle heart

A faulty error made
Unforgetable thoughts remain
A haunting past
Weeping day

Oh sweet 16
What a day
What a year
What a mistake

Time froze in silence
News at speed of light
A bullet that pierce through my heart
The past left behind

Unsteady legs, unwillingly moved
Force of mysterious pressure
Streams of rivers falling
Uncontrolable emotions
Poignant memories swells
Unforgetable act

Sweet 16
Sheds of flower petals
Fluttering two hearts
Unseen and unfelt
Woven bonds like tangled threads
Oaths that can't be made

Unannounced plans to be
Never made
Children no more
An unforgetable big leap

A pleading step back
On days of the past
Cheery smiles, everlasting laughter
When you still exist

Best days to come they say
Bittersweet 16
Betrayal of her thought

If we can turn back time
Sweet 16 no more
