sweet

I bought warheads last night

I never understood why you liked them so much

Maybe because they kind of resemble you

How sour you were on the outside at first

But how sweet and savory you are underneath

How the sour taste lingers in your mouth

But is slowly substituted by a blissful aroma

Maybe I should have tried warheads a long time ago

When you were still around

Maybe then I would have realized if I waited a little longer

The sourness doesn't stay for too long

It takes a few tries to get underneath that bitter exterior

And under all the bitterness, is something I crave.

This was a poem I made a while back in high school when I liked someone and realized after that the person I thought they were and the person they really are was two different things. The warheads are just a metaphor :)
