Sweet Briar Rose Who Did Not Wake

The moment that his lips touched hers

He knew something was wrong.

Why does she not wake?He asks,

Is this not love that stirs?

He waits.

All is quiet.

Nothing stirs.

How can you love what you don't know?

The Sleeping Flower thinks.

Anger fills her tumultuous thoughts

As if her head might blow.

She waits.

All is quiet.

Nothing stirs.

The young hero bids her goodbye

And departs in great sorrow.

Aurora listens as he leaves, sighing,

All that loved me long ago died.

She waits.

All is quiet.

Nothing stirs.
