Sweet Dreams

All I need in life is one thing.
Oh and what joy it brings.

After a long hard day,
Up the stairs I went on my way.
Dragging my body along like a slug,
Oh how I could collapse right here on this rug.

I managed with all of my might
To hold back the tears of such a lovely sight.
For there, lying on my bed;
Is the most beautiful object for which I rest my head.

As I lay my head on this plush perfection I seem to have forgotten,
My ear pressed against the cool untouched cotton.
Reminds me how all the complications of the day
Will, with a dream, whist away.

I look forward to the time when my mind can truly roam free
And there are no high school students around to judge me.
A time when I can do the impossible.
And a time when my mind is unstoppable.

In my sleep I toss and turn but do not wake
My head supported by my best friend, a bond one cannot break.
He fills every curve in my neck
And unknowingly reduces my health care check

Oh what a beautiful gift God did give,
For without my pillow, I fear I simply could not live.
