Sweet Dreams
When the darkness, overwhelming,
Bites away, eating slowly
At the things protecting you and me
From missing each other dearly,
And when at that time
Your breathing stops, you sigh,
And merely lie
In bed left to think of my
Arms around you tightly,
Think of this as our secret lullaby:
Close your eyes-- shut them tightly,
Hold on in every way you can,
And listen slightly:
Can't you hear the beating of my heart--
Just like a day asleep with me,
When, in my arms, your head,
Beside my chest, had just began to start
To understand my brand of happy?
Shut them tighter, then you'll see
How truly close you are to me
Once this's done, we will be
In each other's company--
Same place, same time,
And no state's lines--
Just you and me.
You can be in my arms just like you wished,
So I can whisper quietly:
"Goodnight; sweet dreams, baby."
