Sweet Freedom

And in this world we call "Land of the Free"

We still feel isolated

And in this world we call "Home of the Brave"

We still have fear

We fear stepping outside the boundaries

And going against social norms

Because social norms are accepted

And if you choose to be an outsider

You are going against those who will not seek forgiveness

So we will sit and wait

Wait for freedom to ring

Wait for genders to not have a specific job

Or a race to be prejudged

Or a relationship to show disgust

We will one day, stand together

And face these social norms

And do the opposite of what norms say

And at that moment, we will hear freedom ringing

Sweet freedom
