Sweet Nothings

Sweet nothings are the only promises you have to offer The only things that follow through The only things that make me believe that there is a hint of truth behind what you are saying Words that slide into my mind to be pulled out and admired later Later I keep promising myself, empty promises to myself Just like you promise to me You say these amazing things that would make anyone weak at the knees On their knees begging for more attention Buckling, wobbly, foolish, stumbling Is that what you want ? Coating your words with sugar so I don’t detect the bitterness and the truth The truth of the matter is is that I can’t go on believing what you have to say The excuses you make, the sugar coated words, I’ve had enough Enough drinking up something that can never help me Sweet nothings are the only promises that ever follow through And you had me believe in you , you had me promising to myself sweet nothings Making me weak at the knees On my knees begging for your attention once more No more.
