Sweet Romeo
Behold, what light from yonder window falls?
It is the West, and Romeo is the sun.
The heat from rising Helios dies with calls,
Pernicious crust blocks honeyed salvation.
His lust clouds love disrupting lovers’ paths,
While Juliet creaks and sways, perturbéd Fate
Lays claim to guileless please and thrust forth laughs.
The dreamy haze clears from her harmless gate.
One can’t dismiss seductive sparks of night,
Whose latent peril squelches that of day,
And chilling gales breed lustful, hope-stained fright.
The girl’s faith dies as stagnant speeches lay.
Green youth finds trampled trails more traveled by;
Resolves to chase black moons across the sky.
