Sweet Smiles

Dawn’s exertion pools on the shrubs below
It dries on my soles as they swing in the wind
Veiled in the branches, I feel like a crow
My eyes thieve daily and I know I’ve sinned
Each pilfered moment seethes of blasphemy
Although you’ve never known of my presence
I swear I’m not a shrouded enemy
It’s just… I’ve never lived in your absence
Others accept your gift casually
They take for granted that which I treasure
My breath catches in my throat, finally
As you depart and I glimpse your pleasure
You raise your chin to the clouds without guile
And I capture with awe your sweet, chaste smile
