The Sweet Sound of a Memory

The soft and calming sigh coming from her throat drifts through the walls.

A sweet melody coming from the nests that lie atop the trees.

The gentle hymn of water drifting that you recognize from the falls.

A bone chilling yet relaxing sensation coming from the breeze.

Recognition of guitar strings being plucked together into a sweet sound.

Realization of love coming from a girl you hold proud.

Her presence is everywhere in you and all around.

You can even sense her voice in the loudest crowd.

Leaves falling and turning yellow.

Her hugging you so tight your lungs turn blue.

Back then I knew a young and proud fellow.

Who had his life together as if he used glue.

Memories darkened from a long hard past.

They fade into nothing and can’t get them back.

Maybe someday I’ll find peace at last.

But forgetting and forgiving is something I most certainly lack.
