A Sweet Surrender

A sweet surrender

A time for no time

When everything is at a standstill

And there's no choice but to pause in your motions

The only sound is the beating of our hearts

For a second, then a moment

I start to think they are pumping as one

Each rhythm combining to form a steady thump

Thump, thump, thump, thump

Each time the pulsating grows

louder,

nearer,

with greater intensity

But then it all slows down

And the whole world stops for just a moment

Again I am forced to make no motion, none at all

There's no word for it,

At least,

That's what I thought

But then I decided not to think

And without thought my heart decided

My heart named the moment,

The time for no time,

A sweet surrender
