Swirl

Swirl

Universe became alive,
as the denizens of the village slept.
Darkness enveloped the sky,
stars of all sizes swirled and sparkled.
Mysterious forces of twilight drowned the day’s clamor
of useless necessities
Songs of midsummer crickets, cicadas, and frogs were in concert.

All the worries and insecurities of mortals
seeped into the ebony blanket
Drenched with crude oil,
dimming the brightness, still a thick swirl.
Stars danced ever so delicately in step with fireflies
Ushering in nocturnal guests.

Surrounding hills stood in reverence to the spectacle
As trees swayed to the breeze to and fro.
Silken heavenly body of moon climbed
among the stars
Young was once the night,
now tarnished by man’s creation.

Pained by stained dance floor, stars overcame a feverish frenzy
Quickening their movements in tempo
of dizzying symphony.
Uproaring wind cried justice for the trees,
Heavens heard pleas and prayers,
swirling in muggy black gold, laden bodies.
