Swollen

I am scared of

this snake that

sucks the life out

of me.

I am scared of

this butterfly that

plagues my dreams

at night.

I am scared of

this spider that

spins its cobwebs on my

unborn baby.

The snake coils my neck.

The butterfly rests behind my ear.

The spider crawls under my arm.

How I wish they

would return to

their homes,

but under my skin

they persist

leaving me

incapacitated.
