The Sword of My Mind and Soul

It's so practical; it's so useful

I can order a meal

I can say I don't want pickles on my burger

It's so universal; it's so human

I can say hello

Hola

Oi

Salut

Konnichiwa

It's so powerful; it's so pure

I can protest The and argue and persuade

I can excite and frighten and seduce

It's so graceful; it's so beautiful

I can pray

I can bless

I can celebrate

But most importantly, I can sing

I have sung my whole life

I do it well

My vocals have always been praised, but always for the wrong reasons

Recently, I realized their true potential

I have always had the vocals

But now, I have a voice to go with them

It's art; it's singing

You may say I can live without singing, but

Life without song is not living

I can be stripped of everything except my voice

You may say I can live without it

But life without a voice is surviving and no life at all
