Symptoms

One day you could find your tongue hiding, locked

in a standstill of indecisiveness

at routine conversation. Knees may opt

to melt like sugar-cubes in an absinthe

spoon, but when even the bittersweet kiss

of a crisp cigarette cannot dull

your mind of those endless eyes, find peace

in patience. Only time withers petals

off this rose and, like a child trying

hopelessly to catch the autumnal rain

of a forests’ falling leafs, hindsight

will reveal the foolishness of such pain.
