In a concert
there is a moment when
the words on your lips
are exactly the same
as those of everyone in the room.
When your heart is beating in cohesion
to the deep bass the band plays-
when almost seamlessly
your feelings ring in the same tune
as he and she on your left and right.

People from all walks of life
experience the same range of emotion.

For that effect to reverberate further,
to spill from a concert venue
into the endless waves of people
that inhabit this world-
Such is poetry:
Unspoken communication–
the string that threads us
all together.
