Synesthesia

Imagine losing a perception
An entire     sense
Sight
Hearing
Touch
Goodbye everyday independence

It is taken for granted
no?

What about a perception
never experienced?
Incredibly difficult to imagine
But when     senses    merge
Ah
A beautiful hybrid is born

A singer
Hears a pitch
Matches that pitch with     color
Color?
It is                                    violet-red
the pitch
Liquid and smooth
And so a sound emerges
from the singers mouth
                                         violet-red
Liquid and smooth

Music
always a light show
Orb of                               blue
Passes
Waves as it goes
Drums make its presence known
An orchestra
A display of the most glorious sunset
Sit
Listen
Watch
Take it in
Transparent yet bright
      Awe

Math
Less beautiful
Five is                                   blue
Two is                                   yellow
Five plus two must equal     green
Six
But it is                                 orange?
Seven
Brain speaks in                    color
Does not compute math

Memorization
Now that one is easy
It is just a band of      color
License plates
Birthdays
Names
Credit card numbers
Each little character soaks itself in
Personality
Gender
                                 Color

It glows
Engraved in memory

To touch
Finger tip meets table
Water droplet images dance
Phone vibration
                                hot pink
electron rings sizzle

Pain
When it is severe
The Doc says level eight through ten
Deep                               purple
Normally
                                        yellow
Sometimes outlined in     green
                          red
bubbles shuffle around
In the                yellow

Joy bathes in     neon
Girl somedays
boy another

Like February

Like Monday

Even though     pink
It is a
Grumpy  housewife
Menopause
Or
Grumpy old man
Fitting regardless

And you

You are a     light tan
Unless brain knows you
In which case
Any              color
imaginable
Other than
                    light tan
Much more entertaining

Depth and definition
Is paired with
Personality
An understanding of you
Formed

It is every
Element
Of my
                      Life

Down to the basics
Down to Monday

Now lose a     sense

Cope

Carryon

Not so easy
huh?

Survival
yes

                      But living?
No.
