Syrian Songs
A young fragile heart met a Syrian Boy. Arabic being his main language; although, spoken English in a voice slightly deeper than average, which turns his voice from a young man to a man. He becomes her everything, side by side they explore their next steps of life. Meeting up in the halls at school just to speak for a moment. Going out to lunch to leave the life they live for just a little bit. Anytime her heart was breaking she would run to him. He calmed her every time the same song. She loved to hear him sing, she was the only one to hear him. The sounds of Arabic voice she heard him singing while lying on his shoulder. When the song was over they would they would just sit there. Sitting on the cold staircase to his house, every now and then a car or two passes by and they just sit there.
Waiting for what? Not even they knew. Something she never asked was what he sang to her. She didn’t really care because it soothed her; although, the young boy continued to sing the same song.
“Years that I’ve dreamt of being with you.
Years of my life spent waiting for you.
And when, my darling. I saw your eyes. I became yours.
I live my days with you because I love you.
I adore you and die in your love.
I forget who I am when in your arms.
Inside me there is a love I’m unable to place in words.
Who can describe a dream he’s dreamt of for so long and now he lives it?”
Though it went unspoken, they both knew, they knew they would be together forever.
