At The Table


They came to the table and sat down
 
The two of them talked and laughed 
 
But soon those two became three
 
As a babbling baby joined them
 
The three of them talked and laughed
 
But soon those three became four 
 
As another baby joined them
 
The four of them talked and laughed
 
But soon there came an uncomfortable silence
 
In that silence anger and hatred grew between the first two table guests
 
Those to two would scream and fight
 
While the other two would cry and wail
 
And soon the four became three
 
It was silent was more as the three grieved
 
It’s been a little hard for them to go back to how it was
 
Slowly but surely, they started to talk to each other a little more 
 
And I hope soon they’ll be learn to talk and laugh like they did before sitting at the table
