The Table

for so long i've sat at a table

a table i thought was right

it was all id known

but one day

i was invited to a new table

it was different

it was warm

and comfortable

i felt seen

i didn’t have to hide who i was

or hide who i love

i could be me

but i can’t stay at that table

not for too long at least

my old table comes calling and i must return

at least for the next two years

after that time is up

i am free
