Tainted Hope and Hidden Brilliance

When the world flows over its edges with tainted hope

And the cited wrongs have erred their way,

Exists the opportunity for the mind of brilliance

To leap from its hole and exclaim, "This is the time!"

And yet... such are the conditions of this manufactured span

Of misery and despair, and not in the slightest can we change

Others who have this capability. They have forgotted their role,

And so are we left to our own devices, to which we are surely doomed.
