Take a bite

In my room

Brushing my hair

He appears without warning

No image of him in my mirror

Just him whispering in my ear

I could recognize his voice

My lover

Whom I thought I lost all these years

I turn to kiss his cheek

But the figure before me was not him

In front of my eyes stood a creature

Eyes glowing red

Fangs razor sharp

Nails longer than a bobcats

I asked myself

Is it the devil?

Is this just a nightmare?

All I knew was my beloved was gone

Has this beast come to eat me?

Or calm my fears?

What creature of the underworld was this?

Come here my dear

Is the only sound that came out of its wretched lips

As it holds its hand out to me

I slowly got closer

It kissed my lips and bit my neck

Now I stand before you

A creature of the night

Just as my love had become

Feasting on the mortals and living forever side by side.
